I wonder how much of Sanya’s situation was really about “lack of education” and more about “pressure to perform.” Guess I’ll have to read the book someday.

About the US athlete (from Wikipedia):

Sanya Richards-Ross (born February 26, 1985) is a former Jamaican-American track and fieldathlete who competed internationally for the United States. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won gold in the 400 metres after finishing third at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Richards-Ross has also won Olympic gold in the 4×400 meters relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics, the 2008 Summer Olympics, and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
